It was a very successful weekend for Winter Club hockey teams at the CanAm Challenge Cup in Lake Placid. Teams bonded together as they worked towards a common goal in a tournament atmosphere. Coaches worked hard with our players to understand the importance of maintaining discipline in their process and how that directly relates to consistency in their compete level. Ultimately those are the valuable lessons our players learn in a condensed weekend of hockey.

When players stick to the process and play for each other good things inevitably happen. And they did. 1 Gold Medal, 3 Silver Medals, and 2 Bronze Medals. The Bantam A team won the Gold Medal going 4-0-1 on the weekend. The Bantam A’s also won the Sportsmanship Award with the least amount of penalty minutes in the tournament. The Bantam A1’s had a great weekend winning Bronze and going 4-1 during the tournament.

The Peewee A’s had a solid weekend winning the Silver Medal in a tightly contested final against the Leaside Flames. Our Peewee A1’s also took home the Silver Medal going 4-1 on the weekend while our Peewee B’s took home the Sportsmanship Award.

The Squirt A1’s had a great weekend winning the Silver Medal in a tightly contested final on Sunday and our Squirt A’s won Bronze going 4-0-1 over the weekend.

The Team efforts were inspiring to watch and ultimately what led to the success we as a Club had up there. There were many phenomenal individual efforts as well with Winter Club names littering the leaderboards in goals, assists, points, and goaltending categories. Charlie Vincent won the CanAm Scholarship for his written essay and several individuals and teams won the shootout and relays at the weekend skill showcase. It was a huge success this weekend and great showing for our program.

Thanks to the players, coaches, and parents for an unbelievable weekend of hockey and all of your hard work and dedication. A special thanks to Annie Watson for all of the incredible work she did organizing our weekend up in Lake Placid and to all the team managers who worked so hard to make sure everyone on their teams were taken care of and on the same page.

Now on the next challenge.
